We (Bala, kids and I) took a short 4 day trip to Kathmandu on flydubai for the Eid holidays (09 to 13 Sep)… the idea was to take a break from office and house work… so we headed to a Resort close to city. But next time, we’re definitely heading to the mountains, at least to Nagarkot and Pokhra.
Gokarna Golf and Forest Resort – nice hotel but pathetic service… enjoyed the local beverages and food. And we all tried our hand at golf. Bala was all out to hit fours and sixes until the instructor explained that this wasn’t played like cricket 😮 We also made complete use of the Spa facilities – spoiling ourselves rotten.
Bala and I decided to do some sightseeing… bad idea! Terrible roads and very dirty cities. We went to Bhaktapur Durbar to see the Palace of 55 windows and the Durbar Square. Lovely palace with amazing woodwork, surrounded by Pagodas (Chinese temples) and Shikaras (Indian temples) but not maintained at all as historical sites.
The last day of our stay was at Hyatt – awesome hotel and fantastic service. We should’ve just stayed here, but then we wouldn’t have experienced the golf. 10 min walk from Boudha Stupa (Buddhist temple).
Niki and I got to do some shopping too, though not to our hearts content 😉
